Blogmas Day 11: Winter Lipsticks

In the colder months I like to bring more focus to my lipsticks, especially since this is the season for fabulous, festive shades. Today I’m sharing with you the lipstick I’ll be reaching for this winter:

The PURPLES

Even though I'm not really sure why, it's way easier to experiment with purple lipsticks in the colder months. Whether it's a gentle hint of purple or a full-on vampy lip, I love wearing them and here are my favourites:

Essence Merry Berry TE 01 let's the berry-tales begin
Semi-sheer dark purple with a classic cream finish looks great on the lips and leaves behind a lovely, even stain

Golden Rose Vision Lipstick 125
The brightest violet in my collection and it has an amazing formula. Very smooth and pigmented and even though it's a cream finish it is really long-lasting. After it fades, you are left with a pretty stain.

Catrice Ultimate Stay 070 Plum & Base
This one is a beauty blogger favourite and for a good reason. It has a great matte finish and a beautiful deep plum colour that suits so many skin tones. If you want to start experimenting with purple lipsticks, this one is a good one to start with.

Golden Rose Matte Lipstick Crayon in 03
The vampy shade that stole my heart completely. A little bit tricky to pull off as it has to be paired with the right makeup, but absolutely stunning nonetheless. Such a fabulous shade with a great long-lasting formula.

The LIQUIDS

No matter how fond I am of a matte finish, there are times when I want a great glossy lip. Whether I choose a gloss or a liquid lipstick, I love a dark festive shade in the winter:

Rimmel Apocalips 402 Across the Universe
As always, the Rimmel Apocalips are my favourite pick for a glossy lip. This is a perfect Christmas shade and it compliments so many different looks. The formulation of this line is just incredible and really long-lasting.

Rimmel Apocalips 304 Eclipse
My favourite shade in the line is this dark berry that simply screams winter to me. It looks amazing with a winged liner and a pretty berry blush shade.

Rimmel Apocalips 700 Midnight Thunder
To add something extra a sparkling gloss is a great way to go. This one might look a bit intimidating in the tube, but looks gorgeous over any lipstick.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Enchanted Forest
A bit sticky when it comes to the formula, but a really lovely shade. The fact it is only semi-opaque makes this a great day-to-day option.

Lord & Berry Lip Gloss Skin
This is a recent addition to my stash as this was hiding in one of the windows from the LookFantastic Advent calendar. Staying true to this year's shade –marsala, this looks gorgeous in a festive makeup look and the semi-matte finish looks amazing.

The REDS

No matter whether it is a matte or glossy finish, a red shade is a simple must-have during the festive season.

L'Oreal Color Riche Laetitia's Pure Red
Mentioned so many times before, this is a wide popular favourite of many people. An incredible dark red shade that adds something extra to any look.

Essence Merry Berry TE 02 pink & perfect
A lovely choice for those who prefer pink shades, but want to add a red tone to it. A lovely matte finish, and a great quality for the price, this is a lovely choice especially for younger girls.

Catrice  FALLosophy LE C03 Little Red Riding Hood
This lovely red shade with a slight touch of berry has an incredible, rich formulation and feels lovely on the lips. After it fades, it leaves behind an even stain that looks lovely on the lips.

Deborah 24 Ore Power 03
Even though I usually gravitate towards cold toned shades, this one is gorgeous orange-brown shade. The formula is incredibly long-lasting and the shade looks amazing when paired with the right look.

This are the lipsticks I tend to reach for in the colder months and the wide range is great for any occasion. In my collection I like to have an array of different finishes and shades and I'm really happy with my winter spread.

What is your favourite winter lip product?

See you tomorrow!
