Blogmas 13: Drugstore picks for Christmas

This time of the year I try to spend money on gifts for the others, instead of buying things for myself. I had a little browse through my makeup collection and picked up some pieces that would be perfect for a festive/Christmas makeup look.

For the next part of her Christmas Challenge, Taya set the theme: Christmas colors (red, gold, green) and I decided to use it as a chance to share some of my favorite makeup bits in these colors with you!

Foundation:

Catrice Velvet Finish foundation seems perfect for a Christmassy makeup. It gives a full coverage and keeps the face looking matte without drying it out. I usually combine it with the concealer and powder from the same line. It lasts for a long time, so you won't have to worry about your makeup disappearing from your face in the middle of the Christmas party.

Eye shadow:

Maybelline Color 24hr Tattoos in

05-Eternal Gold – is a gorgeous gold cream eye shadow that will stay on your lids through almost anything. I've been using it in the summer and it stays on even when I go for a swim! I couldn't really imagine a Christmas look without gold, so it's a must have in my winter makeup bag!

70 Metallic Pomegranate- Given that I am obsessed with the gold one, this was going to end up in my shopping basket sooner or later. I've had it for about a year now and I really love it, but I use it the most in the Christmas time. It's a dark red-brown color with lots of gold shimmer and it looks amazing on the lids.
These two combine would make a great look by themselves, but I like to use them as a base and then add some eye shadow in similar colors.
Makeup Revolution Flawless Palette –The moment I saw this palette on their website, I knew I had to have it. I bought it in the summer with a pure intention of using it in the Christmas time, because of all the great colors that are in here.
You get all the eye shadows that you would need for any kind of Christmassy or wintery look. The golds and reds make a great Christmas look, but there are a few green toned colors that would also work great for this time of year.
There is a nice mixture of shimmery and matt shadows, some of them are lovely bendable powders, and the others are an amazing, almost creamy formula.
They come in a sleek sturdy palette that would be great for travelling (or as a gift, since we are in the Christmas season!).

Lips:

At Christmas time I usually stick with a classic red lipstick that brings the whole look together and makes it even more festive.

Essence XXXL Shine Lip gloss 021 Red Blossom is a sheer red with quite a bit of sparkle. Worn by itself, it gives a slight red tint and lots of shine, but I love putting it over lipstick to give my lips a bit more dimension.

She Lip liner 04 works with almost any red color and helps the lipstick stay in place and last longer. It also looks lovely when applied all over the lips and with a little bit of lip gloss.

Rimmel Apocalips 400 Big Bang is my favorite red to wear in Christmas time. It is a very opaque true red liquid lipstick. It stays on the lips for a very very long time, but needs to be touched up after eating.

What are your favorite products to use at Christmas?

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!

Happy holidays,
your Beautysaur
